Even if you know absolutely nothing about MLB, you can still place a baseball bet bet fa and make a nice profit. Why? Because baseball bets are the easiest bets you can make of all sports betting.
Football and basketball betting have a lot of confusing rules and calculations and the so called point spreads. With baseball betting you simply bet on the outcome of the game. Another reason to place baseball bets is the MLB season lasts longer. More matches equals more chance for you to make a profit.
Unlike other team sports, MLB betting uses the Money Line instead of the point spread. Even though the point spread is most commonly used in team sports, it can be extremely confusing. With the Money Line, the odds are on the outcome of the game. Plain and simple. If you want to bet on the favourite team, you will have to risk more money. If you want to bet on the underdog, you will risk less money.
Here is a little example to make things clearer; let us assume the Money Line is minus 170 on the favourite and plus 150 on the underdog. To make 100 dollars betting on the favourite you would have to place a baseball bet of 170 dollars. But you would have to bet only 100 dollars on the underdog to make 150 dollars should they win the game.
This difference between the minus 170 and plus 150 is also referred to as the twenty cent line. A little more complicated and risky in baseball betting are the Total Bets and Run Lines. With Total Bets, the bets are based on the combined number of runs from both teams. The sportsbook will set the over under total of a game. The over will win if the sum of the runs scored by both teams is higher than the total set by the sportsbook. The under will win if the sum is lower than the total.
The Run Line is very similar to the point spread from other team sports betting. When you place a baseball bet on the Run Line, you basically bet on whether a team will win by more than one run or will stay within one run.
